Huruf Garden ("the app") teaches a young child the Arabic letters and their sounds, with a grown-up alongside. This policy explains what the app keeps on your device and what it sends elsewhere. The short version: it sends nothing. There is no internet access in the app at all.
Who the app is for
Huruf Garden is made for young children (about five years old) learning with a parent or teacher. The settings and the recording tools sit behind a sum meant for grown-ups, and lock again when you leave them. The app has no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, no links to the web and no way to contact anyone from inside it.
What the app stores on your device
- A first name or nickname for the child, typed by a grown-up at first launch (up to 20 characters). It is shown as text on the home screen and in the garden. It is never spoken aloud and never leaves the device.
- Learning progress: which lessons are finished, which letters have been answered correctly on which days, and a short log of each practice session (the day, the number of questions and the number right).
- Settings: sound on or off, the names used for the vowel marks (Indo-Pak or Arab), practice length, and reduced motion.
- Recordings a grown-up makes in the voice studio (see below).
All of it is saved in the app's own private storage on the device. The app is kept out of Android cloud backups and phone-to-phone transfer, so nothing is copied to Google Drive or a new phone unless you save a voice pack yourself.
What we collect
Nothing. The developer does not collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal information or usage data, from children or from adults.
- The app has no permission to use the internet, so it cannot send or fetch anything. All letters, pictures and built-in sounds are inside the app.
- There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising software.
- The app does not ask for the child's age, date of birth, photo, location, contacts or anything else, and does not read the device's identifiers.
Microphone and the voice studio
The app asks for microphone access only when a grown-up opens the voice studio (behind the grown-ups sum) and taps Record. Recording lets a parent or teacher say a letter's name or sound in their own voice; that recording then replaces the built-in sound for that letter on this device.
- Recordings are stored only in the app's private storage on the device. They are never uploaded. There is no server to upload them to.
- The microphone is not used anywhere else in the app, and never while a child is on a lesson or game screen.
- You can say no to the microphone. The app still works with its built-in sounds.
- Each recording can be deleted in the voice studio at any time.
Voice pack files (optional)
A grown-up can tap "Save voice pack" to make one file holding the recordings made on this device. On Android this opens the usual share sheet, and you choose where the file goes (for example your own files or cloud storage). The app only hands the file over; it never sends it anywhere itself. "Load voice pack" lets you pick such a file and add its recordings to this device. The file contains recordings and their labels only, never the child's name or progress. Any service you choose to save the file to has its own privacy policy.
Keeping and deleting your data
Everything stays on the device until you delete it.
- A grown-up can change the child's name at any time under "For grown-ups".
- "Clear progress" (under "For grown-ups") removes lessons and progress. Recordings are kept.
- Each recording can be deleted in the voice studio.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything the app stored, including recordings. Because nobody else has a copy, nothing can be recovered afterwards, and there is nothing for the developer to delete on request.
Children's privacy
The app is designed for children and follows the Google Play Families policy. It does not collect personal information from children (or anyone else), does not show ads, does not offer purchases, has no social features, and cannot open websites. A parent or guardian with questions can contact the developer at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
